Frequently Asked Questions

Logging in

Q:      I need to log into the database to update my organisation’s details but I can’t remember my login details.

A:      Click on ‘forgotten password’ on the Home Page and enter your email address.  A new password will be emailed to you straight away.   We advise you to change this to something more memorable by clicking on the ‘change password’ option.

Individual contacts

Q:      Can I list more than one person on my organisation’s record?

A:       Yes, you can add as many contacts as you like.  Once you have completed the registration process, log back into your record using the login details emailed to you.  Click on ‘manage contacts’ on the left hand menu.  A list of current contacts  will appear.  Click ‘add’  to register each new contact.  Please note that a unique email address will be required for each new contact added.

Third Sector Assembly Membership

Q:      I’m interested in joining the Third Sector Assembly.  How do I sign up?

A:   Third Sector Assembly membership is available to anyone that works for a third sector organisation in Birmingham.  If your organisation is already registered on the database and you are a named database administrator simply login to the database and click on the option to join the Third Sector Assembly.  You will then be taken to another screen where you select the networks that you wish to join.

If you’re not sure whether your organisation is registered on the database, you need to follow these steps:
Step 1:  Firstly, type all, or part, of your organisation’s name in the Quick Search box.  A list of possible matches will appear.
Step 2 (a):  If your organisation is registered but you are not a named contact, check whether any individuals  from your organisation are listed on your organisation’s record.  If so, get in touch with that person; they will have the ability to add you on as a contact.   Once you have been added, follow Step 3 below.   [If no individual contact is listed, please call the Third Sector Database Team (details below) who will be happy to add you to your organisation’s record]
Step 2 (b): If your organisation is not listed, you will need to register your organisation and your own contact details by clicking on ‘Join Now’ on the Home Page of the Database.  A helpful ‘Getting Started’ guide is available to download as a pdf document on the Home Page.
Step 3:  Once listed as an individual user, you will automatically be sent an email informing you of your login details.  Use these to log back into the system.  The option to join the Third Sector Assembly will appear on your home page.  For more information about the Third Sector Assembly Birmingham visit our website.

Mapping Data

Q:      I’ve  received an email asking me to update my Mapping Data.   What is Mapping Data and why am I being asked to update it?

A:      Mapping data is information collected from a large sample of third sector organisations in Birmingham.   It  includes information about the size of the organisation, the number of staff it employs and the policies and procedures it has in place.  It’s important that all organisations that have signed up for the mapping project review this information annually, when requested to do so, as the data will form the basis of  the annual State of the Sector Report.
